The stem is somewhat shorter, helping reduce weight and visual bulk. It houses new components (including part of the H2 chip) and integrates a force sensor for controlling audio playback, calls, and activating Siri via pressing/pinching on the stem. The design remains “open-ear” (non-in-ear tips) so there’s no silicone tip sealing.
